# Compliance assessment

Answer the compliance questions that set your score, your recommendations and the controls in your Compliance Report.

## What this module is for

The compliance assessment is a set of questions. Your answers produce your company’s compliance score and your recommendations. The questions are grouped by category, so you can answer one area at a time. Admins and Users answer the questions, and Auditors can read them.

## Before you start

-   You need an Admin or User account to answer. An Auditor can read the questions and the results, but cannot answer or retake the assessment.
-   Check your frameworks first. During setup, the `Compliance` step pre-selects frameworks by sector and location. An Admin can change them later in My Company → `Compliance`.
-   Open the assessment from the dashboard. Select `Start Assessment` in the banner `Complete your compliance assessment`.

## How to answer the assessment

    Start the assessment

    Select `Start Assessment` on the dashboard. The first category opens.

    Answer the questions

    Read each question in the category. Select the answer that fits your company.

    Move between categories

    Select `Next Category` to go forward. Select `Previous` to go back and change an earlier answer.

    Finish the assessment

    When you reach the last category, select `Complete Assessment`.

## What you see

The page shows which category you are in. It also shows how many questions you answered in that category. Some earlier answers show the badge `To confirm`. Open that question, read the answer again, then confirm it or change it.

### Your score

Your answers produce your compliance score. The score is shown for the whole project, and also per framework. The privacy-operations KPI (key performance indicator) is a different figure from the compliance score.

### Controls and the Compliance Report

The controls and categories come from the questionnaire version. You cannot edit them. The [Compliance report](https://nextit.tech/docs/compliance-report/) covers one framework at a time, and it uses these controls. Your [evidence](https://nextit.tech/docs/evidence-controls/) links to the same controls.

### AI (artificial intelligence) summary of your results

You can generate an AI summary of your results. The summary is available in English and French. Translate it to the other language when you need it, and download it as a PDF. Check the summary against your answers before you share it.

## Common tasks

-   Start the assessment with `Start Assessment` on the dashboard.
-   Retake the assessment with `Retake Assessment` on the dashboard. An Auditor cannot retake it.
-   Re-confirm an earlier answer that shows the badge `To confirm`.
-   Check the applicable frameworks in My Company → `Compliance`. An Admin can turn each framework on or off.
-   Read the compliance score overall, or for one framework.
-   Generate an AI summary of your results, then translate it or download it as a PDF.

## Tips

-   Check your frameworks before you answer. The score is shown per framework, and the Compliance Report covers one framework at a time.
-   Re-confirm each `To confirm` answer as soon as your tools or processes change.
-   Retake the assessment when your company changes, so that the score matches your current situation.
-   Do not confuse this assessment with the Technology Strategy Plan. The plan is a separate 25-question assessment that produces a management plan.
