# Connect your AI assistant

NextIT speaks the Model Context Protocol (MCP), an open standard. Connect once, and any MCP assistant works in NextIT with your account and permissions.

## Who can connect

Two things decide it: your role, and your company’s Admin, who switches each account type on or off under My Company → MCP & AI Agents. Everything is off until an Admin switches it on.

| Role | What you get |
| --- | --- |
| User | The full set of tools your role allows |
| Admin | The same, plus the switches under My Company → MCP & AI Agents |
| Auditor | Read-only: you see everything your role covers and change nothing |
| Superadmin | Cannot connect. Use a User or Admin account. |

## What happens when you connect

    Add the address

    Paste [https://app.nextit.tech/mcp](https://app.nextit.tech/mcp) into your assistant.

2.  2

    Sign in to NextIT

    Your assistant registers itself, then you sign in in your browser as usual.

3.  3

    Approve what the assistant may do

    Approve reading your data and, if you want, creating, updating and deleting it.

4.  4

    Start asking

    You return to your assistant, connected.

For a read-only connection, approve only the first permission. Write tools then do not appear, and NextIT refuses any write attempt.
