# Technology Strategy Plan

Answer 25 questions in about five minutes and get a 12-month plan that shows what to keep, improve and introduce.

## What this module is for

The Technology Strategy Plan shows where your company is going. It asks 25 questions, which take about 5 minutes. NextIT turns your answers into a management plan. The plan shows what to keep, improve and introduce, and it lists the decisions to approve.

## Before you start

-   Only an Admin can answer the questions, accept the plan or retake the assessment.
-   An Auditor can read the current plan. An Auditor cannot answer the questions or change the plan.
-   A User does not see this module.
-   You can leave the assessment and continue later with `Resume →` on the dashboard.

At the end of company setup, the last screen offers the assessment with `Start the assessment →`. You can also choose `Not now — go to my dashboard`.

## How to take the assessment

    Start the assessment

    Select `Start the assessment →`. The questions appear in five steps.

    Answer the five steps

    Answer the questions in each step, in order. The list below describes what each step asks about.

    Read your plan

    When you finish, select `View my plan`.

## The five steps

-   `Direction`: where your company is going.
-   `How you work`: how your team works day to day.
-   `Pressure and risk`: the pressures and risks your company faces.
-   `Money and decisions`: how your company spends money and makes decisions.
-   `AI and desired outcome`: how your company uses artificial intelligence (AI), and the result you want.

### The dashboard card

The dashboard shows a plan card with `Resume →` and `Dismiss`. Select `Resume →` to continue the assessment. Select `Dismiss` to remove the card from the dashboard.

### Accept or regenerate the plan

After the plan is ready, an Admin can accept it. An Admin can also regenerate it to produce a new version.

**Good to know:** The compliance assessment is a different questionnaire. It produces your compliance score.

## Common tasks

-   Start the assessment: select `Start the assessment →`.
-   Continue an assessment: select `Resume →` on the dashboard card.
-   Open the plan: select `View my plan`.
-   Print the plan: open the plan and print it from that page.
-   Retake the assessment: an Admin starts the questions again and saves new answers.

## Tips

-   Answer with the people who run each area. A plan built from one view misses problems.
-   Review the decisions with your leadership team before you accept the plan.
-   Retake the assessment when your direction, budget or tools change. Compare the new plan with the old one.
